Creative solutions can help you achieve functional layouts, especially in small spaces. Let's take the example of this 38 square meter apartment designed by the designers at Brainstorm Buro.
The two-bedroom apartment belongs to a young woman with a busy lifestyle and a demanding job. Therefore, for her home space she desired relaxation, tranquility, and plenty of natural light to compensate for the long and hectic days spent at the office. Taking these details into account, the designers started the home renovation project.
They removed the wall separating the living room from the kitchen, thus creating a larger and brighter living area; extensive work was also done on the apartment's electrical installation to mount various fixtures, sockets, and switches.
The room is now airy and pleasantly lit thanks to a palette of light colors and white, which manage to amplify the space and make it appear brighter. Simple white tulle curtains were chosen for the windows, which pleasantly filter natural light.
The furniture pieces are minimal so as not to visually overwhelm the space. Between the living room and kitchen, a dining area was set up as a discreet transition between functions. The separation is also made at the floor level, with tiles being installed in the kitchen, while the rest of the room has parquet flooring.
The kitchen is linearly designed, compact, with built-in appliances. The glossy white front of the cabinets, as well as the color of the countertop or tiles, contribute to creating the same effect of amplifying the space, keeping it bright and warm. The space between the furniture units was clad with metro-type faience for a current design.
Tall cabinets allow for varied storage.
For the bedroom, the beneficiary desired a high bed and a reading area right by the window, the entire apartment enjoying an enviable view with plenty of green spaces. They lowered the parapet and installed a countertop above the radiator where one can sit comfortably. Here, the designers also created a spacious dressing room with sliding doors, one of which has a facet covered with a mirror.
