If you're passing through Cluj, you must also stop by Nuka Bistro This establishment has a traditional ambiance to which contemporary accents have been added to create a unique feeling, making visitors feel very comfortable and eager to return.
Getting to Nuka is simple: from Unirii Square in Cluj, before you reach the heart of it, pass five establishments and a few terraces. Then stop in front of a place with large doors wide open, from which a warm electric waltz spills out into a welcoming golden light.
Nuka Bistro puts its heart on the table: here you are welcomed with friendship and always find a reason to stay longer than planned.
If you want to read from the displayed books, you'll be tempted by the most invigorating coffee in town, a noble rose presented impeccably alongside a plate with something you haven't tasted since childhood, you'll dream beside a portion of bird's milk or you'll make friends with someone from the house.
Nuka Bistro covers an area of approximately 150 square meters and the fit-out works took several months to complete, finishing at the beginning of summer 2013.
There were restrictions regarding the reconfiguration of the space; no columns or walls could be removed or added, and the installation of the air conditioning system presented a true technical and aesthetic challenge.
Efforts were made to reuse existing materials in the location as much as possible, and when this was not feasible, only materials compatible with the work done over time were introduced. This ensured that the space's rehabilitation would be as close as possible to its historical monument appearance in the center of Cluj.
Much of the furniture is custom-made. The chairs and tables are specially crafted for Nuka at the bentwood factory in Bucea. Decorative pieces with personality are largely family heirlooms belonging to the owner's grandparents (for example, the large dough kneading trough in the display case decor, photographs in old frames, mortars, grinders, etc.).
The decor aimed to be very welcoming, with accessible comfort reminiscent of grandparents' homes - a traditional atmosphere reinterpreted in a modern key, featuring plenty of solid wood, comfortable chairs and colorful tableware, shelves with books for anyone to browse, paintings that evoke grandmothers' tapestries, and large armchairs inviting relaxation.
Those who designed the space brought a touch of nostalgia reminiscent of childhood memories and created an authentic and very comfortable atmosphere, regardless of the weather or time of day. You enter here and forget yourself, feeling at home and reluctant to leave. Here you are welcomed with friendship and always find a reason to stay longer than intended, discovering its essence.
Nuka is frequented by all sorts of people, from the very young to parents with small children and elderly individuals who come to work on their laptops, or young people who come here to socialize in their free time.
