Planting
Pampas grass can be planted in two ways: either by seeds or by seedlings. The simplest method is, of course, by seedlings. These are found at specialized stores and can be planted in the garden at any time of year.
Dig a hole slightly larger than the size of the pot the seedling is in, carefully remove the plant from the pot with all the soil, place it in the hole, cover it and water abundantly.
The minimum planting distance is one and a half meters, as it will grow considerably when mature and if they are too close together they will suffocate each other. The duration until the first flowers appear is about two to three years.
If you want to plant seeds, you should know that the seedling is obtained in about eight weeks and the optimal sowing period is between October and December. The location where it is planted must be in full sun and on soil with a normal moisture level.
Care
During the cold season, pampas grass is tied into bundles, and the bottom part is covered with dry leaves to protect its roots. Pruning the stems in autumn or winter is not recommended as this can lead to root freezing. Flowering stems will be pruned every spring, around mid-March.
