The types of plants we would like to have in our apartment are numerous, but only a few are perfectly adaptable to indoor conditions. Here is a selection of the most well-known and friendly plants suitable for apartments.
Asplenium nidus fern or bird's nest fern is easy to care for and aesthetically pleasing. New leaves develop from the center of the plant outwards. You can water them twice a week and feed them with fertilizer three or four times a year.
Chamaedorea elegans is the indoor palm. It can easily adapt to any type of room or even an office. Water regularly, but allow the soil to dry slightly on the surface before the next watering. It belongs to that category of plants that grows slowly. Its leaves are not toxic to animals.
Pepperomia has become a fairly popular plant in the field of interior decoration. It needs light and should only be watered when the soil on the surface of the pot has dried out. Apply fertilizer every month.
Philodendron “Monstera” is one of the most well-known ornamental plants, found in almost every indoor space. It is easy to care for and tolerates dry air and shade much better than other plants. During the growing season, add a little fertilizer to the water you use to water it. Use support sticks for the flimsy stems.
Wipe the leaves occasionally with a sponge and water them when the air is too dry, especially during winter.
Dracaena is a very resistant plant valued both for its appearance and for the fact that it requires very little care. It is very important not to overwater it; it tolerates drier soil than other plants. It is one of those plants with air-purifying properties, making it suitable for rooms where smoking occurs.
Ficus Robusta or ficus is a contrasting plant due to its burgundy-toned foliage. Ficus is also known as an air purifier, removing most pollutants from the air. Let the soil dry slightly before watering again. Protect from cold drafts.
For proper care of these plants, we recommend rotating them periodically, as they tend to grow only in the direction of light. If necessary, you can supplement the amount of natural light with artificial light.
