The hallway – this often overlooked or underutilized transition space. While we can understand why we might not prioritize its design, it's important to know that the way our hallway looks can influence our mood, as well as that of our guests.

Not everyone has spacious hallways. There are even apartments where the concept of a hallway doesn't exist (we're referring here to the entrance hall). We know it can be difficult to find the right layout for a small hallway, but here are some ideas that can help you.

Think about colors first and how much natural light this area receives. In any case, we recommend white for its ability to reflect light and enhance the feeling of spaciousness. Keep in mind that artificial lighting is very important in this case. Make sure you choose a light fixture that illuminates the area well.

The last thing you want when you return home after a long day is to be greeted by a dimly lit atmosphere.

Let's move on to storage. The larger the coat rack you choose, the more tempted you'll be to clutter it with clothes and other everyday items. Instead of such a piece, opt for a minimalist coat rack consisting perhaps only of a hanger support. You can add a shelf for keys, glasses or mail envelopes.

If you give up the classic coat rack, you will have to consider integrating a mirror at the hallway level. There are various models, whether round, with an interesting frame, or tall leaning against the wall. Whichever option you choose, remember that the mirror is an ally of a small space through the illusion of spaciousness it creates.

And finally, a last touch-up before leaving is welcome.

You also need a shoe rack to store the footwear you typically wear in a season. You'll find various models in specialty stores. Choose the one that suits your small hallway. A white model, tall with 3 or 4 shelves inside may be sufficient. The width should be as small as possible so as not to take up too much space in the hallway.

Moreover, such a piece can take over some of the storage. If the idea of a shoe rack doesn't appeal to you, you can try a bench that you can use for this purpose.
