Your garden can be the place where you grow flowers or different varieties of vegetables, but what do you do if pests appear that damage plants? They can be quite annoying and will turn your garden into their favorite spot to eat. Fortunately, there are various methods to remove them and protect your plants from potential attacks by these insects or small animals.

The story of the House will present some examples of pests that can appear in gardens but also methods for removing these unwanted guests:

Slugs (snails without a shell)

around the area you want to protect, draw a line of lime about two to three centimeters wide, which slugs will avoid;

you can plant mustard or sage. These are two varieties of plants that repel slugs;

bury shallow containers filled with beer. Slugs are attracted to the smell and will drown in these beer containers;

cover the ground with damp sacks or pieces of cellophane, slugs will hide under them and at regular intervals you will collect and throw them away.

Colorado Beetles

one of the simplest ways to get rid of Colorado beetles is to use ash. Put ash under each potato tuber and around the plant. Ash is a renowned phytosanitary product, so you can use it with confidence;

Prepare a solution from walnut leaves (collected in autumn) with which you will spray the plants. This solution is prepared two weeks before the appearance of the beetles. For ten liters of solution, put ten liters of water in a container over which you add three kilograms of walnut leaves, strain it and spray the plant;

Poultry manure. When the plant has grown enough (about 15 centimeters), sprinkle ground poultry manure on the previously moistened plants. This procedure should be applied two to three times per season;

Regularly collect these insects;

Nettle juice is also very good for removing Colorado beetles. The preparation of this substance can be done very simply, use a plastic barrel in which you put about one kilogram of nettles for ten liters of water. The solution is sprayed over the plant.

Field Mice

these are frightened by very strong smells such as garlic, or we can put branches of yew, cloves of garlic, fish heads in the galleries, or pour a solution of elderberry into them;

Mice are also frightened by loud noises. We can bury a piece of metal pipe in the ground and hit it daily with a hammer until the mice no longer appear in that area;

If you don't want to resort to these natural solutions through which the mice will leave, you have no choice but to resort to more drastic solutions such as traps or poisons.

Ants

The antifungal and insecticidal properties of apple cider vinegar help eliminate ants. It is sprayed on the plant and the ants will avoid these places;
