In mid-April of this year, Pukka Tukka opened its doors, the first organic restaurant in Romania. We recently paid it a visit and were impressed by the natural way things are done in this space.

As delicious as the culinary proposals are – the dishes, refreshing drinks or coffee – they are just as healthy, using only natural ingredients, as minimally processed as possible.

Located in the Piata Amzei area, Pukka Tukka also features a welcoming terrace perfect for spending summer evenings. Here you can enjoy a delicious orange or apple fresh juice, a good wine, an organic cola or a classic lemonade made from the freshest ingredients.

The menu is very interesting, a collection of authentic dishes with healthy and tasty ingredients. Here are just two examples: wild salmon with spinach, alongside a mustard sauce, or a salad with duck breast.

Next to the restaurant is Pukka Food, the first organic store opened in Romania back in 2008. It is based on the same concept and blends perfectly with the restaurant.

Mihaela Marin, one of the associates of Pukka Tukka, agreed to tell us some details about the design of this establishment, as well as other details related to its concept.

Pukka Tukka serves 100% BIO dishes, cooked healthily (thermal preparation is done exclusively in the oven) and all are prepared in front of guests. We work in a small space, using state-of-the-art kitchen equipment to offer premium quality at reasonable prices," says Mihaela about the Pukka concept.

Regarding the renovation work, Mihaela also told us that it took approximately 4 months and generally used natural materials: wicker, oak, wood, cork. "There were also some technical challenges, in the sense that it is quite complicated to renovate a small space: teams of workers cannot overlap, the electrical system, installations, air conditioning and the rest must be perfectly synchronized.

The wicker furniture was made by traditional craftsmen and was worked on inside the space. The rest of the furniture is signed by Andreea Radice&Folco Orlandini and was ordered from Italy.

Those who took care of the interior design were the architects from L A M A A R C H I T E C T U R E, they were given free rein and their opinions were respected 100%.

In our search to best express the function this space was meant to encompass (Organic Food Bar, with its defining terms: BIO, FRESHNESS and HEALTH), our thoughts turned to grandma's garden and baskets overflowing with fresh goodies," the architects Dan Enache and Calin Radu told us.

The chalkboard (in its original hue) dresses the area behind the bar for a friendly and flexible menu listing. The tables are also painted like chalkboards, encouraging customers to play, relax and be creative during meal breaks (chalk is provided upon entry).
