Reclaiming Your Balcony: Transforming It into a Relaxation Space

I think this spring period is one of the most beautiful. Everything has turned green around, it smells like flowering trees, and the sun has been more generous than ever with warmth. And this translates into only one thing: start decorating the balcony or terrace.balcony or terrace.

I am convinced that over time you have accumulated various things and that your balcony looks more like a storage space than one for relaxation. Now is the time to change that. A thorough cleaning is the first step towards a well-arranged balcony!

Sort through the things you have on the balcony and make a decision about them: donate, recycle and keep only the essentials, those objects that you will need in the future. Congratulations! You've just finished the most difficult and unpleasant part of decorating! The rest is pure pleasure and creativity.

Now you can think about moving plants to the balcony (if applicable) or priming those that need pot changes or fertilization treatments. To transform the balcony into a space for relaxation and recreation, you need greenery, lots of plants.

It's good to buy them from specialized places to receive the necessary care advice so that the plant suits the climate of your balcony (there are balconies that, depending on their orientation to the sun, can actually heat up during the summer, few plants resisting such conditions) and develop harmoniously.

And since we're talking about plants, now is the time to think about supports, types of pots or vases in which you will place all these green wonders so that you can put them on display as best as possible. Plastic, wood or metal, recycled or reconditioned and painted by you, any such container can be a beautiful idea for decorating the balcony.

A decoration suggestion that I recommend with pleasure is that of a vertical garden; you can consider a trellis for climbing plants or a support made of battens (which can be purchased from a sawmill, for example) on which to subsequently hang containers with flowers. It's worth exploring this possibility further.
