When the two tenants of a 1908 Victorian house decided to renovate their kitchen, they knew it wouldn't be an easy task. The design of their kitchen wasn't quite in harmony with the rest of the house, being rather generic and outdated. So they turned to a designer to orchestrate a much-desired transformation.
A radical change in appearance was necessary. Only the materials that contributed to the renovation were kept from the old kitchen, the rest being replaced. The final result is a bold kitchen that fully reflects the personality of those who will use it.
Although the chosen colors are in dark tones, the overall atmosphere is pleasant, ideal for cooking. The neutral, light colors of the walls, door and windows perfectly frame the black tiles and walnut furniture. For a contemporary accent, glossy appliances with a stainless steel look were chosen.
Considering the colors chosen for the furniture, the designer brought in additional artificial lighting through spotlights and lighting fixtures of various rectangular or round shapes, thus complementing the sufficient amount of natural light from the windows. The oak floor blends with the other elements in the kitchen while maintaining the overall theme of the house.
The renovation took 12 weeks and the final look is certainly to the ladies' liking: they have obtained a warm, modern space with natural textures, bold in places.
