Starting from a budget of 24,000 euros, the owners wanted a pleasant and relaxing space for their Bucharest apartment located in the Unirii area. Being away from the country for most of the year, they wanted to create an oasis of relaxation for short visits.

Open GalleryArchitects atMiso Architectsproposed a modern concept with strong industrial influences and vintage decor elements. We thus find a lot of wood, details and metallic elements, dark colors and color contrasts, decorative paint with an exposed concrete effect.

Metallic elements are found everywhere in the living room, "starting with the custom-made bookcase and continuing with the dining table, chairs and coffee table. The sofa upholstered in a pleasant shade of gray, beautifully decorated with multiple cushions in different textures and colors, together with the rug, curtains and drapes, create a "home" atmosphere.

The retro radio, beautifully framed paintings, minimalist floor lamp and central suspension with many bulbs complete this industrial but cozy setting.

The most important step of the renovation was modifying the existing layout in the apartment located in an old building in the capital: a non-structural wall between the living room and the kitchen was removed and the kitchen door was eliminated. The result is an open, bright space that communicates more efficiently with the rest of the dwelling.

The existing tiles in the kitchen were covered with LVT flooring (vinyl planks) with an interesting diamond pattern. With this solution, besides the outstanding result, they also saved valuable labor time.

The kitchen furniture, arranged in a U-shape, was custom-made and perfectly adapted to the existing space. The refrigerator is placed on the right side, with the side masked by a panel of wooden slats, which in the living room area creates an interesting continuity with the TV cabinet.

Storage spaces in this kitchen are generous, a very useful trick being the realization of suspended furniture up to the ceiling, to store objects that we need occasionally. Finished in a dark gray shade, the same as the walls, the suspended furniture creates a harmonious visual continuity and increases the space.

The bedroom continues the stylistic line of the entire design; it was furnished with a comfortable bed and different bedside tables which add a plus of personality to the space. The wardrobe niche is not very large but provides the necessary storage space.

The wall in front of the bed was finished with decorative paint with an exposed concrete effect. Behind the bed, a wooden headboard was made along the entire length of the wall, covering the existing cornice; this resulted in a very useful and visually pleasing shelf on which the owners display dear objects.

The transformation of the bathroom is truly spectacular thanks to the covering of the ceramic tiles with the special Continuo paint, which not only covered the joints completely but also has a rather rough texture, perfect for an industrial-style decor.
