Renovating an apartment is often a difficult mission. It is necessary to combine the preferences of the owners with what the respective building can offer. Thus, the designer has the ungrateful position of reconciling both aspects for an optimal result.
A couple from Madrid bought an apartment about which they knew was perfect from the first viewing. But from dream to reality, several important renovations were still needed.
The building in which the apartment is located was built in 1932 by a renowned architect so at that moment the entire complex was under protected status; therefore, the renovation works were limited by this constraint, having to preserve the initial structure but update it to present-day times.
It was a challenge that the owners did not shy away from. The windows, floors, and doors were restored; then they moved on to furniture and accessory details. Vintage details harmoniously combined with a few Ikea gadgets. The result was not long in coming, the couple being more than satisfied; their dream had become a reality.
They now have a bright house with a relaxing atmosphere suitable for their needs.
Every space has been personalized in a discreet but pleasant way. The dining area blends harmoniously into the living room, each having an almost imperceptible delimitation. It is an airy house with little but efficient furniture that does not clutter the living space. High windows and white walls allow for extra light.
Even the living room furniture pieces are all white, with a slightly glossy finish, the purpose being to create a pronounced effect of brightness.
