When needs change and your home may undergo modifications. Let's take the example of this two-room apartment; a family with a child approaching adolescence decided to sacrifice a function so that the master bedroom could remain independent, and the living room would transform into the child's room.
To undertake such a modification, the beneficiaries sought the help of a designer with whom they discussed possible variants and chose the optimal one for them. The most important thing for this family is to spend quality time. Most of the time, they would meet in the morning and evening, at mealtime.
Therefore, the kitchen was treated as a priority, and the renunciation of the living room came naturally.
To increase the space dedicated to the kitchen and create a place to eat, the designer proposed opening the kitchen towards the hallway, keeping a restricted partition to visually delimit the cooking area from the apartment entrance area.
The family did not want anything complicated, but just a modern, functional arrangement that would suit their needs. Thus, in the hallway, the designer created a storage area with cabinets, parallel arranged on either side of the door to the first room. Mirror facades enhance the feeling of space enlargement, an effective trick for any small space.
Surprisingly, they even mounted a mirror on the entrance door.
The kitchen was furnished on two sides, minimally, with built-in appliances and a bar between cabinets created with metro-type ceramic tiles. Immediately next to the cooking area is the dining space with a sofa and chairs arranged around the table. A television was placed on the parallel wall, this practically being the area that reminds of the idea of a living room.
Storage needs were prioritized in the parents' bedroom. Therefore, two wardrobes were placed symmetrically, on either side of the bed. The wallpaper chosen to outline an accent zone above the bed brings a dramatic note to the decor.
