The fight to limit pollution and create sustainable products is becoming increasingly fierce every day. Therefore, any idea and implicitly any object created to support the environment is welcome. We present to you today the first chair made from recycled plastic.
Designer Jean Louis Iratzoki has created a completely recyclable and biodegradable chair mold. While the legs are made of wood, the seat and backrest, the entire shell is made 100% from recycled plastic.
The idea of creating such an object from a material as harmless to the environment as possible came from the desire to replace the classic procedure for producing plastic. Thus, together with a group of researchers, they developed a type of plastic obtained from plants such as corn, beetroot or sugarcane.

The material created from plant resources is obtained through a series of mechanical processes followed by a fermentation period. The resulting polymer can then be processed into the desired shape. Thanks to its organic properties, this type of plastic is biodegradable after undergoing various industrial processes.
The chair has a semi-concave, welcoming shape, making it comfortable to sit on. The frame on which the shell rests is made of oak wood.
