Furnishing an apartment doesn't have to be complicated. First of all, you need to know what you want to achieve based on your needs, what budget you have available, and what things you like. Unrealistic expectations are the ones that mess up our plans. This family, who lives in a two-room apartment, thought the same way.
With a chaotic pace of life, they understood that the need for a comfortable bedroom was more important than a living room and that a furnishing project like the ones in magazines would increase their budget far beyond what they could afford. They reduced things to the essentials and, to be sure they would get what they wanted, they sought the help of a designer. Here's how the 53 square meter space was designed.
To begin with, the designers proposed removing a closet from the hallway for more fluidity and integrating the balcony into the kitchen space.
In addition to these reconfigurations, another notable aspect was the abandonment of the concept of a living room transformed into a bedroom; the living area was thus limited only to the perimeter of the kitchen. By increasing the surface area and removing the door, it was possible to create a pleasant area with a dining space, as well as space for cooking and storing everything necessary.
Together with the designer, they found the optimal solutions; most of the furniture and accessories were purchased from IKEA. This way, they managed to achieve a unified concept, simple, practical, and tasteful.
You will probably recognize the Nordic style in this furnishing, through the neutral color scheme, with discreet touches of color inserted; the decorative tiles at the level of the kitchen floor, along with the chairs, lighting fixture, and decorative pillows enliven the decor.
The kitchen is now the place for socializing, receiving friends or relatives. That's why the dining space is given its due importance. It was arranged by the window, with a bench for a more comfortable seating, and the suspended light fixture highlights this entire ensemble.
On the other side we will find the technical area, with an L-shaped layout, with appliances integrated into the furniture space to make everything as unified and organized as possible. In the middle, between the cabinets, a white metro-style tile was chosen.
The master bedroom was furnished as functionally as possible. In addition to the central area of the bed and the dressing room as a storage area, the couple also wanted a reading space which the designer beautifully integrated into the concept of the room. The dresser and suspended shelves increase storage spaces.
The simple and practical design line is followed in the child's room as well. Here, a niche was created to house the wardrobes for clothes. Cube-type shelves complement the storage spaces, and the drawers under the bed provide additional storage.
In the bathroom, the same neutral line was used, the room being optimized to integrate a cabinet for storage above the washing machine or under the sink. The bathtub was replaced with a shower cabin.
