Everyone loves stories full of mystery. That's why we thought that on Christmas Eve, we should put aside design advice and rules for decorating the house and tell you some interesting stories. Such as stories about strange places. Here is a list of bizarre hotels in the world that are still open and where, theoretically, you can stay if you want a vacation full of adrenaline:
Clown Motel
This motel is located in the USA, in Nevada. The fear of clowns is one of the most popular phobias in the world. Even though they are supposed to be the expression of laughter and fun, clowns seem to be terrifying for many people. At the Clown Motel, if you don't suffer from this phobia, you will probably develop one because all the rooms are stuffed with dolls.
If that doesn't scare you, maybe we should mention that the Clown Motel is located outside the city right next to a cemetery.
Hotel Crescent
This hotel is located in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It was built in 1886 and initially was a spa for very wealthy families, but after 20 years it was remodeled to be transformed into a school. In 1934 it reopened as a hotel, but after only three years it changed into a treatment resort where it was claimed that serious illnesses such as cancer could be cured.
It wasn't long before the authorities arrested the owner, and the place returned to its previous destination.
Why is it a bizarre hotel anyway? Because it is believed to be haunted by a worker who died when the original spa was being built, a student who committed suicide by jumping off the roof, a cancer patient who died there, a doctor and several nurses who were employed there.
Hotel Talbot
If you are visiting England and would like to bump into someone from the royal family, then maybe you would like to stay at Hotel Talbot. It won't be Prince William, but Queen Mary of Scots, whose ghost has been haunting this place for a long time.
Queen Mary occupied the throne in the 16th century and in the last years of her life she was held prisoner in several castles in England such as Fotheringhay Castle where she was also buried after being executed. Many of the things from Fotheringhay, such as the oak staircase, were moved to Talbot and it seems that the queen's ghost decided to move with them.
Airth Castle
Airth Castle is a very old castle in Scotland, which was built in the 14th century.
Today the castle is a hotel and spa, but many of the tourists who come here come for the scary stories related to it, which no matter how hard the owners try to hide them, always come out. It seems that one of the most frequent appearances is that of a trio: a nanny and two children, who are said to have died in a fire.
Some guests at the castle have said they heard children playing through the room and a chambermaid knocking on their door. Another strange apparition is a dog running down the hallways and trying to bite people's ankles.
