There are many apartments with small hallways. But this is not an excuse to treat their design casually. On the contrary. By using smart solutions and decorating tricks, your hallway can be transformed into a pleasant and beautifully decorated space in line with the other rooms.

Open the GalleryThe first step is to give the hallway spaciousness and amplitude. If your hallway is long and narrow, use this decorative trick: paint the longer walls white, and the narrower walls a few shades darker (see models in the gallery above). This will make the hallway appear more spacious.

For an extra touch of texture, you can outline an accent area using tiles that imitate brick.

Don't use intense, saturated colors or overly busy prints! Color accents can be found at the level of the coat rack, rug, umbrella stand, lamp, picture frames, or even the shoe rack.

Since the hallway is the room in the house that doesn't benefit directly from natural light, you need to add different lighting fixtures: wall sconces for ambient lighting, a track with spotlights, a lamp, or LED strips so that the space appears larger and brighter.

One of the trends that we have been liking more and more is that of flooring that visually connects rooms. More precisely, the parquet from the living room continues into the hallway and even into the bedroom, offering continuity and fluidity to the design; or the same type of ceramic tiles used in the kitchen can also be found in the hallway - a trick worth exploring, especially in small apartment hallways.

Also in the tricks category, we include mirrors. Placed in strategic locations, mirrors will help you create the illusion of spaciousness and depth in a small or narrow hallway. Choose a large, tall model that encompasses you from top to bottom; you can place it in a location where it reflects some of the natural light from the kitchen or living room.

Modular furniture is the solution for a modern and functional hallway. A shoe rack with a tall and narrow design, a few suspended shelves, and one or two bars for hanging clothes used in the current season, a minimalist coat rack, colorful hooks or hangers will be enough for a small hallway. Add a bench for support when putting on your shoes.

Depending on the size and configuration of your hallway, you will be able to furnish one or more wardrobes for additional storage. Thick clothes, footwear, or other bulky items will find their place in this designated space. In a niche or pantry, you could create a mini-dressing room that is very useful and functional.
