Animal lovers cannot conceive of living in a home without at least one pet, whether it be a dog, cat, parrot, fish, or any other animal that can be kept in a dwelling under optimal conditions.
By signing a collaboration partnership with Home For Hope, IKEA has managed to create an unprecedented campaign that is making the rounds worldwide, and animal lovers have shared and reshared this million-times-viewed message through social networks.
Photographers hired for this project chose abandoned dogs, taken directly from the streets, and photographed them in various poses, in a real studio photoshoot. The photos of these friendly animals were printed on cardboard supports, life-size, and these cardboards were included in IKEA stores around the world.
Anyone who entered an IKEA furniture store could see a bedroom, kitchen, or modern living room, where an image of one of these dogs was integrated, to allow them to visualize how nice it would be to have a pet at home.
The campaign is a real success and aims to lead to a drastic decrease in the number of abandoned dogs on the streets and an increase in the number of adoptions of dogs taken from shelters.
