New apartment buildings constructed in recent years often fail to meet the needs of their future residents, particularly regarding the configuration of the apartments.
For some apartments, the entryway has been completely eliminated, others have open-plan kitchens, and yet others, despite having an area that could easily accommodate two rooms (living room and bedroom), remain as one-bedroom apartments. This was also the case for this couple who faced a similar situation, their purchased apartment originally being a studio.
Working with the interior designer, they analyzed various options and ultimately made the right decision for them.
The apartment in question has an area of 50 square meters including the balcony, with an open-plan kitchen. We can understand the natural need to sleep comfortably in a bed, hence their desire to create space for a bedroom, practically a new room within the existing perimeter.
Because the apartment was designed as a studio, the existing windows would not have provided enough light for the remaining living room space. The solution they chose also resolved this issue: the second wall of the bedroom is a partition made of tempered glass, which allows natural light to penetrate into this part of the house as well.
A set of drapes was installed on this new wall so that they can be drawn for privacy when needed.
The main storage space in the house is located in the hallway, in the form of wardrobes; I say "main" because in the newly created bedroom, there wasn't (at least at the time the photos were taken) any other storage option. There is the possibility of integrating slim-designed nightstands that would fit the limited perimeter around the bed.
The entire design maintains a minimalist tone with pleasant neutral colors that inspire comfort. Glossy finishes and the predominance of white reflect light, thus creating an illusion of spaciousness.
The essence of the wood used for both the flooring and furniture imparts warmth to the space, and in combination with modern surfaces, creates an environment that invites relaxation and a sense of openness.
