Solutions for small spaces exist as long as you follow a creative approach. For this studio apartment, Andreea Stefan, the interior designer who handled the design, proposes an ingenious solution to optimize space utilization. Let's see what she came up with:
The challenge in designing this 29-square-meter studio apartment was to create both a relaxation area and a sleeping space, all within a single 17-square-meter room. Thus, I chose to use a raised bed under which an extendable sofa, a wardrobe with sliding doors (on the side), and a bookcase could be fitted.
Being a studio apartment intended for hotel rental, I optimized the space so that it can accommodate up to 3 people.
The unit containing the bed and wardrobe, along with the access stairs, were custom-made. Similarly, I opted for custom kitchen furniture to ensure all pieces integrate into the space's dimensions.
I used a neutral color palette to keep the space as airy and bright as possible, adding pops of color through accessories (see the sofa and rug in the room). For the kitchen, I chose turquoise accents as the finish for the main furniture units, while the space between cabinets is clad with textured tiles.
In the hallway, I opted for extremely simple furniture with a coat rack, a bench with storage space, and a mirror. Small decorative details, such as stickers or wall sconces, maintain a neutral but pleasant note in the space.
We hope this type of design inspires you, whether you're looking to furnish a studio apartment or just a room in your home. This approach with a raised bed and storage at the base can also be applied to a teenager's room.
