Every woman knows how indispensable a pantry is, which is why we need to learn how to arrange it properly. The countless jars of pickles and jam must be stored in good conditions to last from one season to the next. No matter how small the dwelling may be, we must find space for the goodies that will delight our senses during cold winters.
For housewives who are lucky enough to have enough space to make a real pantry, I have some helpful tips:
1. The ventilation system should not be missing, as it provides a suitable space for storing jars.
2. Put tiles on the floor. This way you avoid small spaces through which ants or cockroaches can enter. No one wants to have "uninvited guests" in their house.
3. The light must be strong in this space so that you can observe the condition of the pickles. Don't skimp in this case, because you risk missing some jars and your summer work will go down the drain.
4. Shelves should be sturdy to support the weight of the jars. Try to arrange the space you have as best as possible so that you have enough room for supplies.
5. Many housewives prefer to use natural spices. These are obtained by drying the respective plants. The best way to store them is in cotton bags (avoid plastic bags).
6. If you want to store dried peas or beans, be careful to put a sachet of salt next to them to prevent weevils from appearing.
7. In the case of potatoes, it is important that they are kept in the dark so that they do not sprout prematurely.
8. You can also put a wooden barrel in the pantry to store cheese in brine or pickled cabbage (indispensable for stuffed cabbage rolls). Try as much as possible to avoid plastic jars, as they are toxic.
9. For a pleasant smell, dry some lavender or sage.
It is important to be creative and put your stamp on any room in the house. Whether it's the living room, bedroom or pantry, no space should be neglected.
