We're in the midst of summer and in our attempt to map out Bucharest's terraces where we can spend our summer days, we stopped by Piata Unirii at The Harp Irish Pub This establishment was conceived as a meeting place for gourmands, where they can dine by candlelight in the evening in a very relaxed atmosphere with discreet music in the background.
Since 2012, the Irish pub GaleriaDin has been under new ownership, with the proprietors aiming to give the establishment a much more elegant and authentic look.
In addition to the Irish dishes prepared here (pies, Irish beef with Guinness and fish&chips), the pub offers a culinary journey into an eclectic world (burgers, pork ribs, sausages, pasta and salads) where "copious" and "delicious" are the watchwords.
Solid wood was used for decor, both for furniture pieces and ceiling cladding, while dark-colored leather was chosen for the indoor sofas and chairs, providing a sober and elegant atmosphere.
The walls were carefully decorated with Irish quote paintings and posters, and the pub is interspersed with wooden and iron objects.
The ground floor and first floor of the Irish pub have a surface area of 200 square meters, with a capacity of 110 seats, while the terrace has 110 square meters and can accommodate up to 100 people. The pub is currently undergoing expansion; from September, an additional 350 square meters will be added to the interior, plus a new terrace of approximately 100 square meters.
The Harp Irish Pub is frequented by people of all ages. From young people intent on finishing beer after beer, to business people, corporate gourmands, expats and cheerful tourists.
From autumn until early summer, live music is provided several days a week by local bands, while Wednesdays and Fridays are dedicated to magician Andrei Girjob.
Major football events of the year are marked by live match broadcasts and plenty of beer. St. Patrick's Day is strictly celebrated here, and every year The Harp participates in Restaurant Week, an event during which dishes have special prices.
