The Iglu Sorrisniva Hotel was first built in 1989 by Rune Bjerke. He was inspired by the local tradition of building igloos as temporary shelters. The hotel was an instant success and became a popular tourist attraction.

The Iglu Sorrisniva Hotel is built entirely from snow and ice, including the walls, ceiling, and furniture. Snow is collected from the local area and compacted to create solid blocks. The snow blocks are then stacked to create the structure of the hotel.
Architecture:
The architecture of the Iglu Sorrisniva Hotel is inspired by traditional Inuit igloos. Traditional igloos are dome-shaped structures that are energy efficient and provide protection from the cold.
The Iglu Sorrisniva Hotel uses a number of traditional igloo construction techniques, such as using snow blocks cut into a feather shape and creating an entrance tunnel to maintain a constant interior temperature.
