The name of the "Forget Me Not" flower is very well known all over the world, being a beautiful flower that can be found in some of the most spectacular places. The piercing blue of this flower easily stands out among the rows of wild plants growing in nature.
The name of the flower comes from the German word “Vergissmeinnicht”, and in English it is called "Forget Me Not", having the same meaning in Romanian.
Legend has it that in 15th century Germany, those who wore this flower on their chest were never forgotten by their lovers, hence the name "Nu ma uita" (Don't Forget Me). In the Middle Ages, a knight was walking along a river with his lady. He bent down to pick some flowers, but due to the weight of his armor, the knight fell into the river.
As he drowned, he cried out to his beloved "Nu ma uita!", and from that day on, ladies began to wear these flowers on their chests as a sign of eternal love for their men.
Given its powerful and dramatic love story, it is no wonder that the name of this flower is almost the same wherever it grows in the world.
Being quite rare near houses, most people prefer not to pick them, wanting to leave them for others to admire as well.
