When we are near a renovation project, the decisions we are about to make regarding finishes, furniture and the rest of the decorations will affect us for a long time or at least until the next refurbishment. Especially if we want to repartition the living space.

Andreea Stefan, interior designer, proposes today an arrangement that has been radically transformed by going from a studio apartment to a 2-room apartment.

The owners, a young couple, wanted a cheerful, colorful apartment, but above all functional. And the studio or, rather, the 40 square meter room did not fit their needs. Thus, Andreea came up with the proposal to create a new function, the bedroom, separating it from the living room and kitchen.

To achieve this, it was necessary to close half of the balcony, thus obtaining a few square meters which were used indoors (increasing the kitchen).

The living room and kitchen communicate with each other so that natural light can penetrate into the hallway. The furniture unit used as support for the television visually separates the hallway from the living area. Here, in the hallway space, a generous wardrobe with sliding doors was placed, this being the main storage space of the apartment.

The 6.5 square meter kitchen maintains a functional character through the choice of custom-made furniture so that it fits the configuration and dimensions of the space. Open shelves facing the living area ensure a kind of continuity. The oven is built-in, and the refrigerator was mounted in the niche left from the balcony after closing.

For the bedroom freshly created (with a size of 9 square meters), Andreea opted for a bold approach that the young people were very happy with. Thus, the choice of the color of the walls in a fresh lime green imprinted energy and vitality to the arrangement, the nuance being softened in intensity by the white furniture, white curtains and neutral drapes.

In the rest of the apartment space, a neutral chromatic dominates, with white and cream, the color accents coming from the 2 areas with wallpaper. Using green accents distracts attention from the size of the space, and the arrangement gains an extra touch of interest, especially through framing the wallpaper, leaving the impression of an oversized painting. The wallpaper was purchased from Lumea tapetului.ro.
