The story of this home is based on the desire for change, renewal and alignment with modern living standards. It's the story of a spectacular transformation of an apartment in a communist block into a "wow" ultramodern, cool but spectacular space at the same time.

“The apartment had been renovated in the 90s with low-quality materials, according to the fashion of the time. The construction site involved the complete stripping of finishes, screeds, plastering, replacing electrical and plumbing installations.

The client's initial requirements were: creating a modern, uncluttered space with decorations and accessories, creating a spectacular space with plenty of light (cool, modern), excluding tiles and parquet from the list of finishes, using glossy epoxy paint.

The design of this home is based on the use of reflections, bright accents and masculine colors. The architects from the Interiology team had complete freedom from the clients to develop the concept and implement the project.

The 80 square meter apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, living room and a generous hallway with a view towards the living room (one of the strong points of the initial layout).

The challenges encountered were in reconfiguring the space, creating new niches, moving the kitchen front and opening the kitchen to the hallway (which created a more interesting perspective at the entrance to the home), and redesigning the small bathroom.

“Microcement successfully replaces ceramic tiles, with the shower, sink countertop and other water-exposed surfaces being perfectly insulated.” Great attention was paid to lighting, with LED strips recessed into the walls, reflections of these in mirrors and painted glass panels.

The design concept is unitary, the entire home maintains the same stylistic line. The living room has been designed minimally, but everything is impactful: a modern glass bar, a wine refrigerator, custom-made suspended furniture, a perimeter bench illuminated with cold LED strips.

The finishes chosen for walls and floors visually enlarge the space through the reflections they create and contribute to shaping the modern atmosphere. The black glass cladding adds an extra touch of elegance to the home; the epoxy resin floor with silver powder creates a harmonious continuity throughout the entire home, while the aluminum skirting board in a gray shade is part of the chosen color palette.

Due to the glossy surfaces, light multiplies and the space appears larger.

Regarding the kitchen, the architects from Interiology Design Studio tell us that it was completely remodeled to meet the new requirements of the beneficiaries: “we moved the initial front onto opposite walls, the furniture being designed, viewed from above, in the shape of a Z.

This helped us a lot because we were able to insert a refrigerator, oven, stove and washing machine next to each other. And we also created space for a dining area.”
