The concept of this attic in Timisoara was born from the desire to create a comfortable living space that preserves the atmosphere of an old attic in a house built in 1930, combined with a contemporary lifestyle.
Damian Alexandru, a young and talented graduate of the Faculty of Architecture, who recently completed another project we published here, was responsible for its design.
One of the main objectives was to maintain the visibility of the original materials, seeking a continuation of the dialogue with the past and introducing new materials and techniques in a way that makes the relationship between old and new pleasant and harmonious from a visual point of view.
The warm presence of wood encompasses the entire space, while red burnt brick is used as a chromatic accent in various places in the attic, preserving the old chimney as the main element of the space.
The attic is harmoniously divided into several zones, so that living in this space is warm and comfortable. Spatial fluidity, home-made objects, visual manipulation between different areas and between natural and artificial light, transform the space into a dynamic dwelling that correctly responds to all the client's needs.
Due to a limited budget, the transformation of the attic was based on reusing as many existing materials as possible, reminding of the attic's past while significantly updating the decor.
