A lawn is one of the elements that can perfect any yard or garden, making it more elegant and giving it a well-kept appearance. If you want to enjoy such a green space in your yard, you can plant a lawn or grass carpet.
Planting grass or a lawn is not difficult at all, and this process only requires a little patience, having available land to plant on, and grass seeds. You probably already have the other tools in your yard, or you can find them with a gardening enthusiast neighbor.
Here are the steps for planting a lawn:
Determine the area in your yard where you want to plant grass or a lawn. Depending on the size of the area, you can estimate the amount of seed needed. For approximately 50 square meters of land, one kilogram of grass seed is required;
Apply a layer of natural fertilizer or black soil, which can be purchased from specialty stores;
After applying this fertilizer over the portion of land where you want the lawn to grow, level it well with a rake so that it is evenly distributed throughout the planting area;
Once the entire area has been leveled, it's time to scatter the seeds evenly. A seed spreader is very useful, but if you don't have one, this can be done easily by hand;
Now that the seeds have been scattered over the well-leveled fertilizer, take some straw or hay, depending on what is more convenient for you, and sprinkle it over the entire area where the grass or lawn seeds are. Do not apply a very thick layer, as the seeds need sunlight to germinate;
Now water the entire area abundantly, but be very careful that the water jet does not move the seeds from where they were thrown. The amount of water should be moderate, as too much could lead to seed rot.
Maintenance
Once the lawn has grown, another very important stage is its maintenance. The lawn is watered daily or at least every other day for 15 minutes, depending on how exposed it is to the sun. It is recommended to water the lawn in the morning or evening when it is cool.
Along with watering, fertilizers can be administered which can extend its lifespan and pleasant appearance.
If you want your lawn to maintain its green color, it needs to be mowed regularly (read here everything you need to know about this process), when it exceeds a height of 8-10 centimeters.
