The challenge of this project was the relatively small surface area (approximately 50 sq m) and the client's desire for a home that would meet all their needs while being comfortable, functional, and representative of their lifestyle.
The apartment is located in a new residential complex in Bucharest and consists of two rooms: a living room and a bedroom.
Architect Alexandru Bucur from Interiology managed to meet all the owner's needs, creating a comfortable and functional home for a single person, suitable for the modern and urban style requested by the client.
The design was realized using darker tones to create a discreet atmosphere with filtered light. To visually enlarge the space and make it more dynamic, glossy materials were used (Paris Design Ceilings stretch ceilings, Stucco decorative glossy plaster, colored plexiglass furniture from Kartell).
In the living area, dark wenge tones predominate, and natural light is filtered through curtains, with glossy accents on the ceiling cornice and color accents created by graphics on the wall.
The chosen furniture is simple, minimalist, following the modernist line of the entire design. The bedroom is dominated by a stretch ceiling across the entire surface, which creates a sense of height and spectacularly reflects the lighting fixture chosen by the architect. Dark burgundy and maroon tones are correlated with the ceiling color and reflected by the reddish-brown floor.
The kitchen is the room that was intended to be the brightest, which is why beige furniture was chosen with funky, bold color accents that can be found on the tiles, furniture, lamps, and colored plexiglass chairs. For the bathroom, warm colors were chosen, and Stucco plaster was used, with glass and mirror elements visually amplifying the space.
Good communication between the architect and the owner contributed to the success of the design: the apartment truly reflects the personality and style of its inhabitant. "We shared the same ideas from the beginning regarding the concept of the house design, and they often helped me find various decorative objects and furniture, and they played an important role in designing the bathroom" (architect Alexandru Bucur).
The ambiance created reflects the atmosphere of the urban night: low and diffuse light, carefully dosed, bright spots that surprise and create areas of mystery, glossy elements that arouse the desire to discover them, bold color accents on a decor created from dark, cool colors.
