Syrniki is a traditional dish in many Slavic cuisines: Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, and Russia, and can be served both for breakfast and as a dessert. In the vegan version, cottage cheese and eggs are replaced with plant-based ingredients, preserving the fluffy texture and sweet-sour taste that makes them so beloved.

In Ukraine, "Sir" is said for cottage cheese. Overall, they don't taste much different from classic Romanian papanași, but the preparation process is slightly different. The main difference is that they are not fried in a bath of oil, but only a little oil is used to grease the pan.

This recipe for 12 pieces takes about 40 minutes to prepare.
