The three-bedroom apartment is located in a new building in the north of Bucharest. It has two bathrooms, a kitchen, two bedrooms and a generous living room with an integrated dining area. Bold choices define the style of the interior design entirely.
Against a modern, neutral background, we find strong accents of color and texture in every space. However, the star of the decor remains the photo wallpaper in the living room, 5 meters long and featuring a design inspired by pop culture.
With a usable area of 96 square meters (plus an 8 square meter terrace accessible from each room), the apartment is the home of a family of entrepreneurs with a 14-year-old daughter and a poodle.
“A cold and empty house” was the feeling the owners had when they took over the apartment from the developers. Standard finishes - parquet, tiles, faience, and sanitary ware were already installed.
With many ideas and the desire to personalize their home, they turned to the architecture team Pure-Mess Design. The interior design project started at the end of 2018 and lasted for five months, with a budget allocated of approximately 32,000 euros.
An essential part of the design concept is the use of colors specific to each season in the four rooms: the living room evokes the colors and feeling of summer, autumn is represented in the master bedroom, spring in the child's bedroom, and the kitchen symbolizes winter through its colors and finishes.
The photo wallpaper as a base finish on the walls is an integral part of the concept both aesthetically and technically, to quickly and easily cover any wall imperfections. Using wallpaper in bold colors and patterns, impressive perspective heads were created.
According to the architect, the biggest challenge was incorporating all the elements desired by the beneficiaries into the proposed design without suffocating the space. Alongside the vibrant and bold colored photo wallpaper, we encounter furniture pieces clad in black glass, resulting in an extremely elegant and pleasant effect: the room appears larger and less monotonous.
