If you live in a house where the ceiling height displeases you, it's good to know that there are some tricks you can apply so that the ceiling appears taller. Here's what you can do.
When painting, leave a thicker stripe between the ceiling and the wall, extending the ceiling color down towards the wall; a simple trick by which you can create the impression that the ceiling is higher than it appears. And of course, the ceiling color should be a light color, white being the simplest option.
For homes with low ceilings, we recommend not hanging anything from it, no chandelier or candelabra, as these will increase the unpleasant feeling that the ceiling seems to be collapsing on your head.
Avoid tall furniture. Keep low dressers, a low coffee table, opt for floor cushions instead of high armchairs.
Use long, vertical shapes to decorate the walls so that the ceiling will appear taller. You can paint in vertical stripes or if these are not an option, you can try with a collection of paintings or anything similar that you can display vertically. This will attract the eye upwards, increasing the effect of height.
choose curtain and drapery rods so that they stand out; those in dark, dramatic colors will make you look up to admire them. The ceiling of the room will appear taller than it actually is.
