This 8-story block is likely the tallest residential building in the world constructed entirely from wood. It is located in a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden and was designed by architects at Wingardhs for a local real estate developer.
GaleriaBlocul features 31 apartments with a number of bedrooms ranging from one to four. The building's structure was constructed using massive wood prefabricated modules connected by metal foundation rods. Balconies are equipped with sliding doors, are quite spacious and offer a beautiful view towards the nearby lake.
The apartments in this building are very comfortable and reasonably priced.
The building has underground parking accessible by elevator. The exterior design respects the traditional Scandinavian architecture of the area, featuring a gable and a pitched roof.

The project creators aim to implement the idea that alternatives to the classic construction method using steel and concrete can exist. Fireproofing and waterproofing the wood are necessary to make it resistant to ignition and moisture.
Wood is a truly recyclable material and, after treatment with certain substances, can become very resistant as a construction material. Its balanced color also makes it suitable for decorating interiors in apartments. In this case too, the wood is treated to prevent its color from changing.
Living in such a building is truly eco-friendly, and gradually people will get used to the idea of being as mindful of the environment as possible, and choosing solutions that combine comfort with ecology.
