Such a building is so spectacular and sensational that it cannot fail to conquer even the most conservative architects. Built entirely from wood, this building immediately caught the attention of the architectural world, with the Japanese once again managing to amaze with one of their achievements.

The building was built to be a laboratory for preparing and selling cakes called Sunny Hills and was created by Japanese architects Kengo Kuma and Associates.

“Our goal was to create a forest in a very crowded shopping center, in the city. We studied very carefully how a forest with many trees is lit, and to offer the same feeling to those who enter Sunny Hills, we chose to make the building in the shape of a basket,” said Kengo Kuma.

The result is a three-dimensional building made of beams and rafters, which captivates the eyes of all passersby. From the outside, the entire building looks like a sketch done with a brown pencil, but inside you can get lost in the labyrinth of light created by the arrangement of the beams. All this happens while you are looking for the perfect cake for a special occasion, adding an extra charm to the whole building.

The architects used over 5,000 m of wooden beams to build this building, everything being executed 100% manually. Another extremely impressive thing about this building made entirely of wood is that the floors are made of balsa wood planks.

We loved this building madly, it's a real masterpiece and we add it to the other 10,000 reasons to visit Tokyo and Japan.
