Each season has its own beauty and it depends on us to keep every aspect of the garden and orchard in the best possible condition. Here's what needs to be done for April.

For flowers: Remove materials used for winter plant protection (e.g., dry branches) as plants are budding and these materials can cause damage.

If the soil is loose, start planting. The best days for planting are the wettest ones. Plant roots should be muddy or moistened beforehand. Submerge potted plants in water until no air bubbles are visible. For those with bare roots, let them hydrate.

First steps in lawn care: spring fertilization with organic substances rich in nitrogen, watering, scarification (after the first mowing).

Do not remove the leaves of bulbous plants (daffodils, tulips), but wait for them to wither on their own.

Dahlia tubers are planted in clay soil, at a large distance from each other. Gladiolus tuberbulbs are also planted now. They only sprout after the late frosts have passed.

On sunny days, take pots and planters out into the sun.

For vegetables: Legumes: due to nitrogen-fixing bacteria in the root nodules - such as clover, beans and peas - they enrich the nitrogen content of poor soils.

Cucumbers and zucchini sprout in greenhouses and nurseries.

Cauliflower and kale are planted in protected areas, and caraway is sown.
