Bathroom design has been treated with increasing attention in Romania over the last 10 years. What kind of tiles should we use for the floor and walls? Are ceramic tiles better? Should we opt for marble or travertine slabs? With mosaic or without? These are just some of the questions we are most often confronted with.
Below, we offer a few examples of bathroom designs using natural stone, a material whose popularity is constantly growing due to its resistance, beauty and versatility.
1. Half a wall clad with slate panels. Floor made of slate slabs. The contrast between the white of the walls and the rust color of the slate makes the room appear more spacious and airy. Wood and metal match perfectly with slate, together creating half of the bathroom's chromatic palette for decor balance.
2. Travertin Classic tiles combined with Marmura Mix mosaic (varying lengths). Brown hues create a color unity, while the mosaic eliminates monotony. The brown inserts are discreet, their role being to relax the atmosphere.
3. The color of Travertin Classic in perfect balance with the white of the bathtub, sink and toilet bowl. On the other hand, for diversity there are borders made of Travertin Latte. The relationship established between the two types of cream stone is the same as that which works between stainless steel elements, glass and white sanitary ware.
4. Floor and walls are clad with matte Travertin Classic. The bathtub is clad with a panel from Travertin Classic Multicolor. The two types of stone fit together very well, considering that the first one opens up the space, while the second one, on the bathtub plinth, dynamizes the room chromatically. Travertine is perhaps the warmest natural stone used in interior design.
5. The accent wall is covered with Rusty Black slate panels. The floor and side walls are covered with slate slabs. Many people prefer this type of arrangement, where everything is bet on a single clear contrasting color spot, which is played here by the white bathtub. Paradoxically, this design is also suitable for small spaces.
The eye is drawn to white and no longer perceives the close limits of the room. Any other larger white element added to such a space would distract attention and immediately feel the reduced dimensions of the room.
6. One of the most fashionable and elegant natural stones in bathroom design: polished Maron Emperador marble. This one, perhaps more than other models, is very well highlighted by spotlights. In addition, it always needs white sanitary ware and large mirrors to create a balanced chromatic atmosphere.
7. Wall and floor clad with Volakas marble. The texture of the marble has a double role: to break the flat white and to match the stainless steel elements. In a sea of white, the green of the wall is welcome.
