Dill is native to the Mediterranean region. It is a spice used since ancient times, an indispensable component of pickles due to its preservative effect. Almost any part of the plant is used: whole or ground fruit, the aerial part of the plant, green, fresh or dried.
Description Dill is an annual herbaceous plant that can reach a height of 150 cm. The leaves are pinnate-sect, the flowers are yellowish-greenish and are arranged in umbrella-type inflorescences.
In our country, dill can be grown anywhere. It has moderate temperature requirements, but these vary depending on the stage of development of the plants: young plants can withstand spring frosts, but during flowering it is better for it to be warm and sunny.
Light requirements are similar: at the beginning of the vegetation period, it develops normally even in partial shade, but during flowering it needs a lot of sun. During this period, water requirements are higher, so frequent watering is recommended. It is not demanding on the soil, but it is best to avoid soils where water stagnates.
