We know summer is coming to an end, but for DIY projects, the season doesn't matter. Today, we propose a simple idea with a big impact. If you hurry, you'll still be able to enjoy cool autumn evenings spent outdoors by the fire with loved ones.
This is what it's about – a fireplace or rather a hearth with a bench around it. First and foremost, establish the location where you will assemble it. Dig to the appropriate size, but be careful to leave space in the center for making the fire itself. Add gravel or pebbles to stabilize the area. Then add sand, approximately a 10 cm layer.
The next step involves positioning the paving stones. Begin by outlining the fire pit area; place stones around the perimeter and then trace a few lines with stones to serve as reference points for the final installation.
It is recommended to lay the stones concentrically, starting from the fire pit location and working in a circle, fixing the paving until the entire area is fully covered. Work from the inside out and be careful not to put sand between the stones yet so that you can make adjustments if necessary.
Use a long enough plank or, if you're meticulous, employ a level to check how well you've laid the stones. Now is the time to make any necessary adjustments.
Secure the paving with sand and there you have it, the first part of the project is complete. To add the bench, you can use any method you prefer. Planks are a practical and easy-to-handle option.
Establish a distance of approximately 40 cm above the pavement. Choose 10 planks and fix them at approximately one meter apart. You can paint the support planks black for an added effect. You will also need a saw to cut wood parts when assembling and screws.
Now we move on to assembling the wooden pieces. You will need a fixed support and screws for this step. The gallery provides detailed assembly instructions, as it does for the entire project. You can also add a beam under the new bench and frame it entirely with paving stones for a well-kept look.
You can now enjoy the new garden fireplace! You can even use it as a grill for delicious meals!
