We've all been through at least one major renovation in our homes and we know what it entails. Most of the time, after this process, we are left with materials such as parquet pieces, tiles or ceramics that we no longer need.
If you have some free time on the weekend, I suggest a creative exercise, like DIY projects where you can reuse leftovers from ceramic tiles, whether they are floor tiles or wall tiles. Here's what you can do with them.
Let's take, for example, a planter. Mosaic tile scraps (those small squares that can be of different colors) can be glued to the exterior of the planter and thus obtain a new look for your plant support.
On a similar principle, you can use leftover tiles to decorate the bathroom mirror. If the mirror is square, you can create a mosaic frame to enhance the bathroom decor. This is a type of project that you can also do independently, buying the exact type of tiles you want for your project.
I'm sure you have a chair or small table on your balcony that you use as a support for flower pots. If you are not satisfied with its appearance, tile pieces are a handy solution. The seat or tabletop (if we are referring to a table) can be transformed by gluing the tile pieces (or the whole tile depending on the size) onto the respective surface.
Patterned tiles can decorate a wall. How? By framing them like in a painting. If you have four tiles left that make up the pattern, adhere them to a surface and frame them. If you are talented, you can even draw your own design (for white tiles) or use a stencil.
The large tray you use to serve drinks to guests can also get a new look with mosaic tile pieces. Choose a pattern you like and glue them onto the inside surface of the tray.
For all these mini DIY projects, you will need special adhesive for ceramic tiles, which you can find in DIY stores. Consult with the specialized staff for advice or questions regarding the special adhesive for different surfaces.
