Children love activities where they can use their imagination. And what could be more beautiful and recreational than painting and coloring? We propose a DIY mini-project for you to try at the weekend or during vacation time, together with your children: painted pebbles.

All you need are pebbles of different sizes, paints, brushes and boundless imagination. You can find everything at a DIY store. You can also use pebbles collected from the seashore during your summer vacations. It will be even more enjoyable when you finally find such a pleasant purpose for transforming them into colorful decorative objects.

Depending on the size of the pebbles, the designs can range from simple to complex: a snail or a ladybug, a dragonfly or a fish, all sure to please young children. The age of your children will determine the complexity of the models and the motifs incorporated.

To begin, you can simply apply a uniform color to the pebbles. Then you can try a small, easy design, such as a heart for example. Or a penguin; apply black on one side and white on the other, add two eyes and an orange beak, and there you have your penguin.

The ladybug model is easy to make: paint three-quarters of the pebble red, then outline two eyes with white and black and draw a line to create the mouth. After the red has dried, paint a few black dots to finalize the project.

We invite you to the photo gallery for more sources of inspiration. Good luck with your work!
