Visiting fine establishments lately, I also stopped by Salon Golescu. As soon as we crossed the threshold, we were greeted by the celebrated Dave Brubeck piece "Take Five," a background soundtrack perfectly suited for a place like this.

Salon Golescu is a gastro-cocktail-bar, or more simply, a cocktail bar that complements its bar offerings with a casual, urban menu.

The opening of Galeria Amenajarea took four months, and the materials used range from copper, marble, brick, embossed wallpaper, antique mirrors, a crystal chandelier, ceramic mosaic, and ancient Chinese screens to recycled wood like that on the ceiling which comes from an old barn near Sibiu.

Most of the furniture was made at a factory near Cluj, while another portion was purchased from antique shops or ordered from abroad.

The decor is certainly eclectic, successfully combining several areas into a restricted open space: the marble bar, the main attraction of the location with its copper countertop and high bottle shelves reaching the ceiling, the fireplace with leather sofas and armchairs forming an ideal space for conversations over a fine drink and a cigar, the area near the entrance with the long sofa in "American diner" style, and last but not least, our favorite, the oversized central table specially designed to host people who don't know each other and whose shared seating encourages socialization.

The entire concept was built with American bars from the early 20th century, the 1920s and 1930s, in mind – salons frequented by society's elite where cocktail culture flourished to the rhythms of jazz and swing.

From here comes the name, Salon Golescu, formed by joining two terms, the first one making you think of that type of social establishment and the second referring to the street we are located on which incidentally also resonates with the vibe we were looking for. “Gastro cocktail bar with exquisite cocktails, delicious tapas, electro music and eclectic atmosphere,” if I'm not mistaken, this description was given to us by a foreign guest in a comment on a travel website and we liked it so much that we adopted it as is, one of the owners tells us about the specifics of the establishment.

The owner also told us about the architect who carried out the design, saying: "We are part of the group of people who don't pretend to know everything, so naturally we turned to a top architect and thank him through this message as well.Cristian Corvin He surpassed himself.

Salon Golescu is frequented by young guests, both in age and spirit, with an urban lifestyle, open minds, who aren't afraid to share a large table with others and find it cool to eat at the bar.

There are people who seek alternatives to the already established leisure areas in Bucharest and who enjoy discovering such a zone right in the city's cultural center, in midtown as Americans say. Equally, foreigners come here due to the proximity of two world-renowned hotels.
