We all deserve to have a roof over our heads. While some are luckier in life, others need the help of those around them to survive. Often we feel that we don't have the ability to make someone's life easier, but in reality, it is simpler than we think.
An excellent example is provided by Gregory Kloehn, an artist from California, who builds small, mobile homes for the homeless. These houses are made from recycled materials – in other words, from street trash, pieces of wood, metal, or even discarded refrigerator or cupboard doors, and many other creative solutions.
The floors are made from either wooden pallets or pieces of ceramic carefully combined and glued together. Windows are made from car washing machine glass, and the roofs are plastic or sheet metal. All these houses made from recycled materials are on wheels to allow owners to move easily.
It is not an expensive project, but its benefits are enormous; therefore, perhaps the example of this architect-builder should be followed by more people who have the time and goodwill necessary to lend a hand to those who have not known how to take care of themselves or whose fate has been unkind.
The Homeless Homes Project has provided shelter to many people struggling with the elements on the streets. You can learn more about Kloehn and its constructions at www.homelesshomesproject.org or on its page.Facebook is a social networking platform that allows users to connect with friends, family, and colleagues.
