A folding table for a picnic, in the fresh air, with family, is very useful for anyone. If you like to build things with your own hands or simply enjoy challenges, here's a good opportunity to test your dexterity. With minimal materials and enough patience, you can build your own folding table. For this you need:
a piece of plywood one square meter and 1 cm thick;
a textile strap of 4 meters;
a hand saw;
a staple gun;
pencil
a tube of strong glue
two screws with butterfly nuts
a wood screw and a washer
a piece of round wood
Velcro (hook) tape of approximately 2 meters
a Christmas tree stand
varnish or paint
pieces of lumber of various sizes
a piece of string
wood file
After you have gathered all the necessary materials, follow a few not very complicated steps:
Step 1
On the plywood one meter long and one meter wide, draw the diagonals to determine the center of the future circle. After establishing the center, take a piece of string one meter long and attach it to the center of the plywood, and with the pencil tied to the other end, rotate around the middle point to draw a circle. Then cut with the saw and give the plywood a round shape.
Step 2
Divide the resulting circle into 7 approximately equal width planks and finish the edges with a special wood file.
Step 3
Arrange the planks in order, at a distance of about one centimeter from each other. After cutting the strap into 4 equal pieces, glue them with strong glue and staple them over the planks so that they hold them together.
Then apply hook-and-loop tape on two parallel sides which will correspond to two support battens (which in turn have attached paired hook-and-loop tape) for supporting the entire surface. The role of these two battens is to be detachable and the table to take up as little space as possible when transported.
