Stains and dirt have no place in the home, and we all know how frustrating it can be to fight marks that seem impossible to remove. Things get even more complicated when dealing with a precious material like marble or when your favorite living room rug has suffered damage. We will now present several methods for removing stains of different types from marble and wool rugs.
Grease stains on marble are best removed by applying a solution of neofalina and chalk or white clay to the affected area. Let it act for 12 hours, then remove the chalk with a soft brush. The area should be rinsed thoroughly with warm water. To remove any remaining stain residue, the marble should be buffed at the end and polished with a fine linen cloth.
If the marble has been stained with red wine, coffee, or tea, act on that area with hydrogen peroxide (3% concentration) mixed with salt (add one teaspoon of table salt to 100 ml of hydrogen peroxide). Colored marble is wiped clean to remove stains with a soft sponge dipped in a mixture of water, soap, and vinegar.
During the rainy season, marble can be stained with mud. This is best removed with the help of wet sawdust. In the case of rust stains, the best results are obtained by applying a hot mixture of oxalic acid to the rusty area. After this procedure, the area should be rinsed with 5% ammonia and plenty of cold water.
A rug is a decorative object prone to multiple household accidents – a moment of inattention is all it takes for it to get dirty, altering its appearance which made us buy it in the first place. What do we do in case of grease stains? In this case, we will clean the stained area with a soft brush dipped in neofalina, which will degrease without attacking the fabric.
If we need to remove stains from alcoholic beverages, we will wipe off the excess with a cloth dipped in detergent, and then carefully rub the area with water in which we have dissolved vinegar (this will also remove the smell). The vinegar and water solution also helps revitalize colors, keeping the rug charming for longer.
When the rug is stained with fruit juice, jams, or alcohol with strong pigments (such as red wine), we will wipe the stained area with a mixture of water and ammonia. If you have any other helpful tips, please share them with us.
