If you're moving into a two-bedroom apartment for the first time, you're certainly excited about the extra space. Unfortunately, even if you have a generous space, most of it will be occupied by furniture and appliances. Most bedrooms are left with little space once the bed and wardrobe have been placed.
Therefore, you need to carefully select the items in your home so that they don't "steal" more space than necessary. When it comes to appliances, many of us consider the largest ones to be higher quality and more efficient.
However, for a small apartment where you live alone or with another person, you can opt for smaller appliances that are capable of performing multiple functions.
How to choose your air conditioner
Most of us are tempted to choose the largest air conditioner possible, thinking that such models would be more powerful. However, this is a mistake: this will result in consuming more energy than necessary. In addition, the appliance will be less efficient at lowering the temperature.
To choose the right air conditioner, it's best to orient yourself according to the size of the room. For a room with an area between 27 and 32 square meters, an appliance with a capacity of 8,000 B TU (British Thermal Unit) is suitable. For every additional or less 5 square meters, add or subtract 1,000 B TU.
However, there is an additional factor: the natural brightness of the room. If the room has a lot of natural light, increase the appliance capacity by 10%. If it is very dark, reduce it by 10%, according to Apartment Therapy. Also, if you frequently have more than two people in your apartment, add 600 B TU for each person to the capacity of the air conditioner.
2-in-1 washing machine
For most of us, choosing a washing machine is a dilemma. The available options seem limitless, and finding space for it in your home is another problem. However, interior designers have several alternatives you can put into practice to avoid taking up too much space in your bathroom or kitchen.
