Colors can truly change the atmosphere of a home. There is an unjustified fear, I would say, of using more intense shades in an interior design. For all of you, there is the option of using neutrals: grays, beige, cream. However, even in this case, too much neutral transforms the space into a banal and downright monotonous one.

To eliminate this risk, here are a few tricks to highlight a neutral color palette.

Different tones – regardless of the range of neutrals selected, using tones and shades of the same hue will allow you to create depth in the decor and offer elegance to the entire design.

Textures – use contrasting textures to give the space an extra touch of interest: plush fabrics, glossy velvet, leather texture. Combine them harmoniously so that neutrals don't turn into monotony.

Interesting and attractive shapes. Because by neutral we understand not to arouse particular interest, to be indifferent, such a room must compensate through other approaches. Interesting shapes, unusual materials are some approaches to explore in a neutral space. An ottoman-type armchair, for example, can be a suitable addition.

Metal, raw wood as much as possible, abstract geometric shapes, here are just a few ideas that make up for interesting colors. A tip from specialists: don't buy the furniture set from the same store or from the same collection. Bet on unique combinations between shapes, textures and patterns that will save you from banality.

Patterns and models. When choosing furniture and accessories for a predominantly neutral living room, we recommend opting for models and patterns that offer dynamism to the room. Abstract geometric shapes or any other preferred pattern are worth exploring.

Combinations with other neutrals. When we say neutral, we don't mean strictly one shade. Designers recommend mixing neutrals to create different visual focal points: cream with beige and grays, all in different tones, for example. Integrate black accents to bring depth to the space.

It could be a black frame, a special lampshade, a model with black integrated into its pattern.

Step out of your comfort zone and bet on interesting accents that can transform your house or room into a more interesting and pleasant one.
