From time to time I like to tidy up my library and make room for new books I've just bought or to integrate an object received or purchased from fairs or specialty stores into the decor. Until now, all old books had only one fate: to be nicely wrapped and sent to rest in the box.
Rarely one or two would make their way back to the library at home.
Today I learned how to give old books a new purpose, knowing for sure that no one will read them again, and how to beautify my living room and bedroom with flower pots made by hand.
Iata cum puteti realiza ghivece de flori din carti vechi:
You will need several books with cardboard covers, wood glue, a thicker sheet of plastic, and plants. We recommend choosing succulent plants.
The first step, as shown in the images, is to hold the book (or books, depending on how tall you want the planter to be) closed and apply glue/adhesive to its edges to bond the pages and stiffen the structure.
The second step is to mark the area you will cut. Draw a square or rectangle with a pencil and then use a sharp, durable cutter to cut the cards.
After you have sectioned the book, place plastic sheeting inside. This will prevent the rest of the book from getting wet and retaining water. Then pour soil inside and place the plant in it. If you are not opting for succulents, you will need to make a few perforations in the book for water drainage. Make the holes and use adhesive to waterproof their edges.
