International platforms such as Bored Panda or My Modern Met have written about the creative design of Enigma Cafe in Cluj. They praised the inventiveness and determination of those who put together such a concept. The House's story went in search of them and the story of an unconventional space, which conquers you as soon as you cross its threshold.
Opening the Gallery Installations that move, creating fantastic games in the dim light, captivating integrated steampunk structures in a coherent decor, which gives rise to these sensations are the first things that surprise you at the arrangement of Enigma Cafe. Here's how this place came into being: "The idea of Enigma started from people, our daily guests.
You see, people are constantly moving, people are movement and therefore a decor based on static things cannot resonate intimately with man. The foundation of the decor for this space was, therefore, movement. This idea was masterfully put into a coherent design story by the boys from 6-th Sense", declared Mihai Valentin, owner of Enigma Cafe.
When we asked him if he is a design enthusiast, he told us that he feels more like an inventor.
We wondered, looking at the details, what barriers this concept encountered until its implementation. The answer confirmed to us once again that for any crazy idea it's worth fighting to the end: "The first reactions were total disbelief that something like this could be done.
Right from the beginning, one of the designers, hearing the idea, shouted at me: Are you crazy? This can't be done! But with a fiery perseverance, the project lasting almost 2 years, we managed to slowly build a team that would believe in the project and help us move forward and finalize it. "It can't be done" was on everyone's lips every day, it became so often repeated that it became a catchphrase, towards the end when I heard NUSEPOATE, I already felt familiar and it gave me the feeling that I was on the right track", Mihai Valentin recounts with humor.
The history of the installations is a special one: "The installations as you call them, the mechanisms as we call them, were designed by 2 engineers, Radu and Andrei Nicu, and exceptionally executed by a 3rd engineer, Adrian. Procuring the components was an extremely difficult task, being precision parts, and the Romanian industry could hardly help us".
As for the interior design style adopted, Enigma successfully combines 3 different styles: the new ground floor is kinetic steampunk, the floor is a more intimate, quiet lounge, full of books (including on the ceiling), and the summer garden is a beauty. Full of greenery in the summer and hidden from view, it is an oasis of peace and beauty in a bustling city, truly a "secret garden".
Cluj residents have received the new concept superbly, perhaps because it resonates with them," believes Mihai Valentin. "Cluj is a lively city, full of beautiful people. We love Cluj.
