The IKEA Catalog first appeared in 1951 and quickly became extremely popular, providing access to Swedish products for a very large number of people. Currently, it is printed in over 200 million copies, in 33 languages, for over 40 countries, and the digital catalog has over 45 million views.
Creating the catalog takes about eight months (from the first ideas to actual printing). It involves numerous resources from the company worldwide: art directors, photographers, architects and interior designers, copywriters, editors, image producers, product coordinators, craftsmen, technicians, and 3D artists.
On August 12, 2015, IKEA Romania launched the IKEA Catalog 2016, which will be distributed until September 6 in 930,000 copies in Bucharest, Pitesti, Ploiesti, and surrounding areas.
“This year’s IKEA Catalog has a theme that unites people more than ever before. A theme that speaks about individuality but is universal. A theme focused on life around the kitchen and those small magical moments that take place in this space. Like when we eat the last piece of cake while everyone else is sleeping.
Or when we sprinkle homegrown basil on a plate full of pasta. Or when we bring breakfast in bed to someone we love for no special reason. That's what we're talking about in the new catalog. We celebrate the things that make life around the kitchen more harmonious and take time for the little things that make a big difference.”
Kitchens, cooking and serving products, as well as products from the IKEA F OO D department are prioritized in this year’s catalog pages. It's a theme we love and believe is extremely relevant and current for Romanians,” declared Daniela Stoican, PR Manager IKEA Romania.
The 2016 edition has 328 pages and its central theme is “Small Gestures Matter”. The arrangements presented in the catalog emphasize that everyday small moments bring us together and thus become magical.
The kitchen is in the spotlight this year because it today encompasses multiple functions, far exceeding its initial role as a cooking space.
It's an area where many other activities are fulfilled: “It’s a space where we gather with family and friends, where children sometimes do their homework, hobbies come to life, and where we meet to enjoy the special moments spent together every day.” The catalog offers valuable ideas for personalizing and optimizing the kitchen, maximizing space.
Accessories are not neglected in the new IKEA 2016 Catalog, with many new products that can be used for multiple purposes, offering ingenious solutions.
Among the newly launched collections is the S IN NE RL IG collection, created by English designer Ilse Crawford, which celebrates a return to nature through products made of wood, bamboo, ceramic, and cork. The S IT TN IN G collection focuses on materials like acacia wood, stone, cotton, and glass. S VÄR TA N is a collection dominated by black and signed by designer Martin Bergström.
