Swedish furniture and interior design company IKEA is a Swedish multinational conglomerate that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, kitchen appliances and home accessories, among other useful goods and occasionally services.will open its second store in Bucharest. It will be located on Bulevardul Pallady on a plot of approximately 13.7 hectares, reports Financial Newspaper.
Cornel Oprisan, manager of IKEA Romania, stated that there is high potential for opening IKEA stores in several major Romanian cities. However, the existing store in Bucharest receives a sufficient number of visitors to warrant the opening of another store.
The new IKEA will open in an area that provides wider access to Bucharest's public transportation network for residents from more distant areas. This is an advantage, as traveling to the Baneasa store, located at the entrance to Bucharest, required effort for those who did not own a personal vehicle.
The site on which the construction will take place has an area of approximately 13.7 hectares and the value of the acquisition and the completion date have not yet been made public.
IKEA is a privately held company that sells home furnishings. The company was founded in Sweden but is owned by a Dutch foundation. The capital letters in the IKEA name come from the initials of the founder's name: Ingvar Kamprad, the name of the farm where he grew up: Elmtaryd, and the name of the locality where Ingvar Kamprad was born.
