At the end of October, we decided to visit our friends at Zest Collective for a cup of tea and macese. We'll tell you more about them in another article and interview.
In their charming and welcoming white cottage with high ceilings, where they have just moved in, all the furniture is made by them, the three architects who started a year ago to design their own story under the name Zest Collective.
We settled into a round room, bathed in the warm glow of late afternoon light, perfect for intimate conversation. The air was filled with the sweet aroma of hot tea brewing on a table that had caught our eye the moment we stepped into the room, and we decided to question the girls about it.
The table is called X and is an object design piece resulting from the collaboration between Z ES T Collective and Kaustik manufacturing. It is made from stratified wood and finished by hand, with a design that highlights the qualities of the material through the combination of legs and square tabletop, allowing the fiber of the stratified wood to be visible on the surface.
The element of surprise is something else entirely. The Masa X table features a white prism incorporated into its tabletop, with an abstract, perforated surface that we initially considered "the artist's touch". And it truly is a touch. Because, with a simple touch of the concealed switch on the inner surface of this prism, it transforms into a lamp.
It is a Hi-Macs lamp designed to emit diffused light, which enhances the warmth of any room where you find it. Moreover, the lamp is detachable and can be transported anywhere you need it.
We fell in love with it and soon, an X table will find its place in the little house from which we write our daily stories. If you also desire a table with a story, send an email to design[at]zestcollective.ro, or call 0725945495.
